DPC Abstract
DPC’s specialty is assisting entities with their electric power marketing and operational needs. DPC’s wide variety of energy-related services includes:
• Providing transmission expertise and studies for conventional and renewable installments
• Developing specialized software and creating individualized energy scenarios
• Creating customized energy and power evaluation models
• Developing purchase/sale evaluation techniques and negotiating power contracts
• Developing short-term and long-term resource and operational planning support, including testimony preparation
• Providing training in electric power marketing, energy pricing and real-time scheduling
• Providing technical evaluation into regional transmission system reliability load flow analysis
Over the last ten years, DPC has helped entities to formulate and evaluate their purchase power resource requirements, develop annual operating plans and associated budgets, develop and negotiate power contracts, provide financial and economic analyses, support and represent clients during negotiating sessions, develop and lead project tasks, evaluate merchant plant opportunities, and the purchase and/or sell of power plants. Some of DPC’s clients include: the cities of Santa Clara, Shasta Lake, and Palo Alto, EBASCO Services, Sierra Energy and Risk Assessment, San Diego Gas & Electric, Southern California Edison, ERG International Consultants, Unified Information, Inc., Pima Maricopa Indian Community, California Energy Commission-McNeil Technology and California Energy Commission-UC Davis Research Division.
Mr. Ron Davis, the owner of DPC, has 37 years of electric utility experience in distribution, transmission, substation, operations and financial analyses. He has held positions with Commonwealth Edison, Central Illinois Light and San Diego Gas & Electric. He has worked with utility commissions in California, Illinois, Wisconsin, New Jersey, and Pennsylvania.
Davis has also worked as a software-marketing manager for several consulting companies that specialized in the development and support of production costing models. His responsibilities included the development of marketing material and advertisements, software demonstrations, and training.
DPC developed the Strategic Value Analysis Methodology for the CEC that was used in the 2005 CEC IEPR to select potential renewable technology locations that provide transmission relief while meeting the target penetration of 20 percent. DPC has new contracts with the CEC to participate in the Geothermal Collaborative, Intermittency study of wind on gird reliability and participation in the Imperial Geothermal and Tehachapi wind study groups. DPC developed the transmission methodology for evaluating intermitten resource impacts on transmission planning.
In 2003, DPC added Billy Quach to the DPC team. Billy graduated from the Santa Clara University with a BS degree in Electrical Engineering. Billy has been actively involved in transmission power flow and production cost simulations. He has also assisted in providing transmission power flow model training with PowerWorld Corporation. He is currently enrolled in a Dual Master Degree program at San Jose State University with an expected graduation date of November 2008.
DPC Awards and Recognitions
In March 2001, Ron Davis received an award from the City of Shasta Lake. Ron was made an honorary citizen of Shasta Lake for his long term dedication to the Shasta Lake citizens and the city council.
